novaWorxx: Lifting Microsoft Teams governance to the business level

A company is a constantly changing organism comprising many different areas and tasks. In very large companies, individual areas often act independently. And even in mid-size and smaller companies, divisions and departments can be quite different from one another. Production staff work differently from those in Sales, for instance. That’s why the necessary templates, stipulations and processes also vary. A set of standard templates or a long list of all sites will not suffice here.

Dashboard to display sites

The dashboard gives you an ideal overview. On the Sites dashboard, you can view, filter or search specifically for any site. From here you can also request new sites. You can make things more flexible and transparent by creating several dashboards, such as for different task areas or parts of the organization.

Full integration with Microsoft Teams

novaWorxx ist vollständig in Microsoft Teams integriert.

Teams is becoming a more important user interface than SharePoint, so the dashboard is fully integrated with Teams. It can be added to any channel as a new tab. Of course you can always link from it to other teams.

New sites are created step by step. novaWorxx also has an interface with Microsoft Flow, so you can implement custom workflows quickly and without needing to programme anything. Azure Logic Apps and Azure Functions can also be integrated like that.

Lifecycle management

Lifecycle management for a site or a team is an important element when it comes to adjusting and monitoring information and data in the company.

novaWorxx includes lifecycle management templates, which you can adapt or create from scratch.

Provisioning Office 365 templates

The novaCapta Provisioning Engine is a fundamental component of novaWorxx. It was designed especially for Microsoft cloud requirements and has very flexible configuration options. Unlike in the on-premises world, in the cloud you must do more than simply provide SharePoint templates. For instance, a template can contain two Teams sites and an additional SharePoint site. novaWorxx provisions Teams, SharePoint sites, Planner and Office 365 groups. The Provisioning Engine takes into account Microsoft’s standard templating functions, so you can access a PnP template, for example, or integrate a Teams template. Rather than being an alternative approach to the Microsoft functions, our provisioning enhances them where necessary.

The whole administration and configuration takes place in the provisioning centre, although the focus is mainly on managing the templates. Wherever possible, novaWorxx uses Microsoft PnP – which is more or less the standard – for the templates. However, it also expands and supplements PnP with additional options, starting where PnP leaves off. For instance, with a novaWorxx template for Teams, you can set the channels, private channels, tabs, plans, predefined lists, attributes and documents all in one.

How do you start working with novaWorxx?

The installation and set-up process is mostly automated. To get things running smoothly we recommend keeping the following points in mind. The exact time depends on various factors, with the company’s size and organizational complexity certainly being the most important, alongside your own level of experience. For instance, the initial time investment is higher for companies with many independent sub-divisions than for those which are more homogeneous.

Installation & set-up

Usually one of our expert consultants will help you with installation and set-up. We’ll talk about your company’s particular requirements in advance and will clarify security matters. We estimate that supported set-up will take about 1–3 days.

Create templates

In our experience it has proven very helpful if, in addition to the documentation, you have a consultant to help you create individual templates. The time required depends very much on your own level of experience and on the number and complexity of the templates. You should usually plan 2–5 days for this.

Operate it yourself or Software-as-a-Service?

There are two ways to operate novaWorxx: Operate it yourself or as SaaS. Contact us for a consultation, which option better suits your companys needs. No matter which option you choose the licensing is the same.

Operate it yourself

If you choose to operate it yourself, you receive an installation package that you install in your Azure instance. In that case operation will be completely down to you.

SaaS

Or you can use our cloud service in Azure, using the solution as software-as-a-service. In that case we will take care of operation and monitoring for you.

Licensing

Regardless of whether you operate novaWorxx yourself or use it as a service, you lease the software for a year at a time. That way you can decide each year whether you want to keep using the functions. The licence fee depends on the number of users in your M365 tenant.
